Trying to classify how piece destruction works was tricky in some cases, but roughly 4 of the games used Checkers-style jump over pieces, 5 used Chess-style moving onto pieces (capture by replacement), 8 or so used various combat or other simulation/thematic type processes. We had so many games with the mechanism that we successfully played a different game each day. Nonetheless, she humored me and played a few lighter wargames, and of course there are some euros with destruction of enemy pieces! Stereotypically euros don't have "negative interaction", "direct attacks", etc, and indeed destruction of enemy pieces seems less common in euros than in abstract strategy games and wargames - both are genres I enjoy very much, but Anna's not so into wargames, so the month was focused on abstract strategy games. Our Most Assiduous Reader will recall that each day in February we played a game in which you can destroy the opponent's pieces.
